Walking trails, rock climbing, canoeing, rafting and kayaking, are all to be found in the town, as well as fishing or visit Plas Newydd, Valle Crucis Abbey, Castell Dinas Bran or the Horseshoe Pass.

Llangollen is close to Offas Dyke and makes an ideal stop for a walking holiday.

National Trust properties nearby are Chirk Castle, Erddig, Powys Castle, Bodnant Gardens, as well as Caernarfon and Conway Castles.
